DISCRIPTION OF OUR DIVE SITES
Yala Rock (1+2):
Yala Rock is a rocky area with Big rocks of 15 meter high reaching till 5 meter under the surface. The maximum depth is 24 meters and normally the dive time will be about 45 minutes with a 10 litre bottle.
The dive site lays 15 min. by boat from Bay Beach Hotel.
What can we see in this beautiful area. Besides massive rocks there are small caves with sometimes big Potato Groups or big Murrains inside, but luckily there are not the only fishes we can see, there are many different species.
to see especially in the neighbourhood of the big rock. Even we may see Rays. Turtles and Napoleon Parrotfish. Besides fish we find different kinds of Corals on the rocks and with night diving we will see Lobsters walking cross the bottom.
We can enter the caves and there are many that give us the possibility to pass under the rocks.
Coral Reef :
The dive site lays 10 min. by boat from Bay Beach hotel.
The coral reef has a length of 700 meter and protects the few fishing ships that are laying inside the natural harbour.
But for us divers is the interesting part is outside, and describes a much bigger area to explore, besides beautiful and colourful Corals See anemones there are many species of fish, as on Yala Rock, the area is instead much flatter and gives with a good visibility the divers a great feeling of freedom. This dive side is not very deep which allows us to make long dives of more than an hour each.
Mirissa Point:
The dive site lays 15 min. by boat from Bay beach hotel.
Is a beautiful dive site for starting divers and night divers, especially with night divers we can see Sepias, Octopus and sleeping Parrotfish in the sand or small caves. Also this dive side is not very deep and allows us to stay underwater for more than an hour.
Prinz Heinrich Patch:
The dive site lays 25 min. by boat from Bay beach Hotel.
With a longer but beautiful trip along the shore and the bay in the direction of Mirissa we go out on the See for about 4 kilometres where we find a hill that reaches till 7 meter under the surface, the maximum depth of this dive will be 22 meters. This area is especially rich of fish and we may see big Rays, Murrains, Parrotfish et. Etc.
Wreck Diving SSS Rangoon (1rst dive of wreck dive safari):
We go by car and fish boat or by fast Speedboat, this is a daytrip.
Sailing Steam Ship Rangoon was built in 1863 and sank just outside Galle Harbour, much is remained of this steel ship, it lays in a rocky area at a depth of 30 to 35 meters. In the wreck we can see the steel carcass this is also the area where the many fish houses and great Potato Groups can be found. It is a beautiful dive with impuissant free fall of 30 meters. Because the wreck is laying so deep it doesn’t allow us to stay very long so we wait on the boat and have some sandwiches and a soft drink (all incl.)for we make the second dive.
Bottle Wreck “no Name” (2sek dive of wreck dive safari):
Sorry, we don’t know the name but we say the “BOTTLE WRECK”. Something of the cargo still exists, wine bottles and same of it still fillet with red wine.
